In-Person Services Canceled March 15 - March 25, 2020

A live stream will be offered each Sunday at 10am.

Out of an abundance of caution, and due to the difficulty of maintaining health guidelines from government agencies (6 feet of separation), our church leadership has decided to cancel regular Sunday morning services and Wednesday evening activities through March 25, 2020. At that time, we will re-evaluate public health recommendations and determine when it is appropriate to resume regular activities.

Please note, the leaders of SVCC recognize that this is a time when we should not be casual, but instead be even more proactive about interceding in prayer and deed for our world and for one another. The devil never misses an opportunity to stoke fear, loneliness, depression, and division. We are deeply troubled by the prejudicial lines of racism and poverty this disease has so quickly exposed in our society. Even though our church may not be meeting in a large group setting, we will be praying harder than ever, encouraging one another more than ever, and standing up for all of those in need - of any faith, color or social standing - more than ever.

If you are struggling with fear, loneliness, or depression at this time, our Pastor has made himself available just to talk and pray with anyone. Pastor Steve's personal cell phone is 619-277-2671. Feel free to call him anonymously.

Most of all, we pray that you will know that God is greater than any adversity the world brings our way.

Gidgitte Dougherty

Hi, my name is Gidgitte Dougherty.

I am the director of Women's Ministry here at Spring Valley Community Church. When God called me to women's ministry I was hesitant. I thought, who am I to do this? However, the Lord reveals in His word that it isn't about who we are, but who He is. As the prophet Jeremiah struggled with this, the Lord told him "say whatever I say"(Jeremiah 1:7-8). We are all called to be vessels to be used by God.

Therefore as we are led by God, His goals become our goals.

In Colossians 2:2-3, as Paul so eloquently put it, "My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge." Verse 6 of the same passage states, "So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness."

Women's ministry strives to be led by Christ to encourage, unite, share in His word, and keep pointing others to the cross, so that they may be strengthened, rooted in Him, and overflowing onto others in the thankfulness of Christ. This is what we long to achieve through our ministry.

Our purpose in Women's Ministry is to:

P - Pray continually (I Thessalonians 5: 16-18) and then pray some more (Romans 8:26-27) (Luke    22:46)

U - United in Christ- All women worshiping together in Spirit and truth, dead to sin and alive in Christ (Romans 6: 5-7)

R - Relationship - To allow our ministry to be an overflow of our relationship with our Lord. The only way to build a relationship with Him is to Be Still (Psalm 46:10) constantly before Elohim, our creator.

P - Pursue righteousness through spending time reading God's word. (Psalm 119:105) The Bible contains every truth required to care for the human soul. (1 Peter 1:3-4)

O - Offer our lives to the living God (Romans 12: 1-2)

S - Speak praises to Him constantly in gratitude and a thankful heart. (Colossians 2:7)

E - Encourage each other ( Ephesians 4:29 and Ecclesiastes 4: 9, 10)

"You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result from our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts." 2 Corinthians 3:3

Our prayer: Lord, help us share your letter written on our hearts so that others may know the one true living God.
