What it ISN’T
Murder (Moses), Adultery (David), etc. Even denying Christ (Peter)! There are examples of each of these among people of faith.
What it IS
A Persistent and Stubborn Refusal to Believe in God in the face of Overwhelming Evidence presented by the Holy Spirit.
The Problem: Grapevine Theology
Tradition can be an acceptable influence on our faith, but Scripture must come first.
How to Be Sure You Have Not Committed the Unforgivable Sin:
1. If you have confessed and believe
2. If you are concerned you may have done it
“If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
Three Dead Lines
Your Calloused Heart
Bringing it Home
You cannot determine faith for anyone else. You are, however, responsible for your own position.
Will you stubbornly refuse the Spirit's testimony? Or will you step out in faith and trust Him?
The Indescribable Gift
Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!
(2 Corinthians 9:15)
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
(1 John 1:9)
New King James Version (NKJV)
The Unpardonable Sin
31 “Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. 32 Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.“
“Those who fear they have committed this sin, give a good sign that they have not.”
“It is unrepentance that is a blasphemy against the Spirit.”
