  • A Mute Man Speaks (Matthew 9:32-34)

See No, Hear No, Speak No

Jesus is manifesting the promise of the Messiah in spectacular fashion…
“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, Because the LORD has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD”
    (Isaiah 61:1-2a)

“In that day the deaf shall hear the words of the book, And the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity and out of darkness.”
    (Isaiah 29:18)

...but the Pharisees Refuse to See it, Hear it, or Confess it

And He said, “Go, and tell this people: ‘Keep on hearing, but do not understand; Keep on seeing, but do not perceive.’”
    (Isaiah 6:9)

    What Do You Say?

    Words are important.
For those who believe and are able, confession is not an option.

    Speak Evil
If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless.
    (James 1:26)
Speak Nothing How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?
    (Romans 10:14)

When I kept silent, my bones grew old Through my groaning all the day long.
    (Psalm 32:3)
Speak Truth “if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
    (Romans 10:9-10)

    If You Say So

Our words can bring healing and peace.
    May we not be silent!

    New King James Version (NKJV)
    A Mute Man Speaks

32 As they went out, behold, they brought to Him a man, mute and demon-possessed. 33 And when the demon was cast out, the mute spoke. And the multitudes marveled, saying, “It was never seen like this in Israel!”

34 But the Pharisees said, “He casts out demons by the ruler of the demons.”
