Twister with Jesus
This passage is one of the most abused in all of Jesus’ teaching because it is usually taken wildly out of context.
YET — it is one of God’s greatest promises to His children. It deserves a closer look!
What Are You Looking For?
What we desire is essential to seeing this promise come true, and the key to what we should desire is found a few lines before:
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
Not Just Any Desire Will Do!
It must be a desire to see God’s kingdom and justice made real — in our hearts, our homes, and our world.
Seeing it Through
Ask for it (Pray)
Seek it (Grow)
Knock for it (Act)
What is Your Heart’s Desire?
What do you pray for? What do you study after? Whose door are you beating down?
Are you seeking the things of God’s or your own? Seek God’s things first —then you will be truly filled.
Let it Be
May we commit to pursue
God’s kingdom and God’s desires
with patience, perseverance and persistence!
New King James Version (NKJV)
7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
9 Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent?
11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!”
